10 Must Read Spiritual Journey Books For MT’s and Empaths

In massage equipment by KellyLeave a Comment

In my 14 years as a massage therapist I have had the pleasure of being apart of many peoples spiritual journeys. I would not consider myself to be an empath but I have most definitely shared energy with clients before. In the beginning of my massage therapy career I remember having moments during a session where all of a sudden I became so tired I could hardly stand.

It was a good friend of mine who is also a massage therapist and yoga instructor talked to me about guarding my energy and protecting myself against people that were steel it. When I say clients was steeling my energy this was not intentional, these were people who were suffering and their souls were reaching out for help.

As a massage therapist this will happen often and it is a beautiful thing to be able to help someone not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well.  Helping others is why we became massage therapist in the first place, but we need to arm ourselves so that while helping others we do not deplete our energy in the process.

Another deep issues massage therapist and empaths work with on a regular basis is working closely with those who are cancer patients or are in remission. Cancer affects 1 in 3 people in the world and that number will rise to 1 in 2 before modern medical institution find a cure for this disease.

Several of the books I am recommending cover a better understand of what cancer is in today’s world and how to combat it. It is likely in your massage therapy career that you will encounter a client who has had or currently has cancer. For that reason I recommend you pick up one of these books to get a better understanding of the disease so you can serve your clients best.

The list of books I am about ready to share with you is intended not only for massage therapist but for Empaths as well. I paired the two together because I have seen over the years that many empaths are massage therapists, RN’s, counselors, and so forth. This is not a coincidence, as a empath you have a need to help others on a deeper level.

Empaths need to be apart of others lives and connect, this is a beautiful thing and I wish more humans felt the need to love and nurture as empaths do. I believe the world would be a better place if people cared as an empath does. However, with this love and compassion you MUST PROTECT  yourself, otherwise your quality of life could be negatively impacted.

How I gathered my must read books list:

I asked a group of massage therapist and empaths what books have inspired them? Our group has grown to over 11 thousand like minded men and women who want to help each other succeed. As a group we bounce ideas off one and another, we help each other when we can, and most importantly, we support each other, it truly is an amazing network.

I posed the question, how do you protect yourself (your energy) from other? I also asked what books have you have read in your massage therapy careers that keeps you inspired and  to keep helping others? The response was over whelming but I narrowed it down to the top 10 picks that were listed over and over.  So, without further ado…

The Four Agreement teaches you how to live a life of endless possibilities; free of envy, free of guilt, and free of doubt.

The Four Agreement is a step by step guide showing you how to live in peace with the teachings of the ancient art of Toltec Wisdom. When I posed the question to my fellow massage therapist and empaths as to which book or books were a must read, The Four Agreement came up 42 times! Followed right behind that was The Fifth Agreement which is an expatiation on the fundamentals of The Fourth Agreement.

Since both books were highly recommend I asked if someone could skip The Fourth Agreement and just buy the Fifth Agreement; would they have the same experience and the answer was no. You should read the books in order as both share different experiences and it would be doing yourself an injustice by not reading both. Therefore I believe both would be a great addition to your book collection.
