It is reported that 160 million American suffer from chronic pain according to the Institute of medicine. That’s 1 in 3 America suffering every single day with some form of pain. Of those 160 million people, how many do you thing want to take pain medication everyday? The answer would be not many if any at all! Joint pain is unavoidable, people are living longer and our bodies will hurt from time to time and for others they will hurt every singe day of their lives.

It is reported that conservatively 54 million adults suffer from arthritis which means it is no surprise the Supplement industry is a $37 Billion dollar business. Pain management is a gold mine when your customers are those that are desperate for relief. When I was in college I wrote a research paper comparing pharmaceutical companies distribution of cost of operations. So much went into research (of course)  and then you had your legal studies, test trials, but the largest expense by more them 50{aa85435535b2bb3a4ba78547bb21fc32eb7710b0e77a951858af600607b97eba} was spent on marketing.

Sadly, the same can be said about supplement companies who report spent $80 million on marketing campaigns in 2017. With a industry focused on growth and profit, how can we determine what supplements are actually worth trying and could help with severe joint pain? It’s a dilemma for sure, but I am here to help. Before we get into a few supplements and herbs you might be lacking in your diet and could benefit from, let’s first cover how to differentiate between crap and quality.

Quality Counts:

The majority of adults in the United States take one or more dietary supplements either every day or occasionally. Today’s dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbals and botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and many other products. Safety and Risk

Many supplements contain active ingredients that can have strong effects in the body. Always be alert to the possibility of unexpected side effects, especially when taking a new product.

Keep a record of the supplements you take in one place, just as you should be doing for all of your medicines. Federal Regulation of Dietary Supplements

Dietary supplements are products intended to supplement the diet. They are not drugs and, therefore, are not intended to treat, diagnose, mitigate, prevent, or cure diseases. The FDA is the federal agency that oversees both dietary supplements and medicines.

In general, the FDA regulations for dietary supplements are different from those for prescription or over-the-counter drugs. Unlike drugs, which must be approved by the FDA before they can be marketed, dietary supplements do not require premarket review or approval by the FDA. While the supplement company is responsible for having evidence that their products are safe and the label claims are truthful and not misleading, they do not have to provide that evidence to the FDA before the product is marketed.

Dietary supplement labels may carry certain types of health-related claims. Manufacturers are permitted to say, for example, that a dietary supplement addresses a nutrient deficiency, supports health, or is linked to a particular body function (like immunity or heart health).
